100% Free for Couples|5,000+ Verified Reviews|Zero Vendor Influence

Did you know? The Knot and WeddingWire are the same company.

In 2018, The Knot merged with WeddingWire in a deal backed by private equity firms Permira and Spectrum Equity. The combined entity rebranded as The Knot Worldwide.

Their vendor advertising arm, WeddingPro, charges vendors $100 to $700+ per month for advertising packages. This creates a fundamental conflict: the platform's revenue comes from vendors, not couples.

Aisle Advisor was built because couples deserve a platform that works for them, not against them. Our reviews cannot be removed. Our platform takes zero vendor advertising dollars. Period.

What Couples Wish They'd Found Before Booking

VENUE

The contract scanner caught an illegal clause that would've cost us $5,000 if we'd signed. Our venue tried to ban us from posting any reviews.

Jessica & Tom, Married Sept 2025

DJ

I found 6 reviews saying this DJ was a no-show. The Knot Worldwide only showed 5-star reviews on both The Knot and WeddingWire. We dodged a bullet.

VERIFIED REVIEWER

Finally, a platform where I can be honest about vendors without getting sued. Every couple deserves to know the truth.

INDUSTRY PRO

As a wedding planner, I've been waiting for this. Now I can confidently send clients somewhere that won't mislead them.

Professional service with minor equipment delays

DJ was professional, showed up on time, and read the room perfectly. Only minor issue was equipment setup took 20 minutes longer than expected. Would still recommend for the price point.

Wrong flowers delivered, no refund offered

Florist delivered completely wrong flowers—we ordered blush roses, got bright red carnations. Refused refund and threatened to sue when we complained. Contract scanner here caught the illegal clause before we signed.

Despite paying for 150 guests, they only brought food for about 100. Half our guests went hungry. When we complained, they blamed us for 'unexpected appetites.' No refund, no apology.

How One Company Took Control of the Wedding Industry

A 30-year timeline of consolidation, conflict, and why we built something different.

1996

The Knot is founded

David Liu and Carley Roney launch The Knot on AOL after their own frustrating wedding planning experience. It becomes the first major online wedding resource.

2007

WeddingWire launches as a competitor

Timothy Chi founds WeddingWire in Maryland as a Yelp-style review platform for wedding vendors. For the first time, couples have a real alternative to The Knot.

2011

The Knot rebrands as XO Group

The Knot, Inc. becomes XO Group Inc. and moves to the NYSE under ticker "XOXO," expanding into pregnancy (The Bump) and newlywed lifestyle (The Nest).

2018

$933 million merger eliminates competition

Private equity firms Permira and Spectrum Equity back the merger of XO Group and WeddingWire. The two largest wedding platforms become one privately held company. Public financial transparency ends.

WeddingWire press release, SEC filings

2019

Rebrand to The Knot Worldwide; WeddingPro launches

The combined entity rebrands as The Knot Worldwide (TKWW). Months later, WeddingPro launches as the unified vendor advertising arm. Vendors now pay $100 to $700+/month for placement across both platforms. One company controls the reviews and the ad revenue.

2020

Global expansion continues under PE ownership

TKWW acquires Hitched, the UK's leading wedding platform. The portfolio now spans 16+ countries. During COVID, vendors petition for billing relief as leads drop to near zero while subscription fees continue.

2023

Whistleblowers go public

Three former longtime employees alleged TKWW knowingly defrauded advertisers. According to Forbes, the investigation cited 24+ current and former employees and internal company materials.

Forbes, August 2023

2025

Class action lawsuit filed

Kazerouni Law Group files a nationwide class action alleging TKWW provided fraudulent leads to vendors who paid thousands per month for advertising. TKWW disputes all claims.

Case No. 2:25-cv-03739, U.S. District Court, Central District of California

2026

Aisle Advisor launches in Atlanta

A platform built for couples, not vendors. Reviews cannot be removed. Zero vendor advertising dollars. Serving Atlanta, with Nashville and Denver coming soon.

How We're Different

Vendors Never Know Who Posted

No accounts, no emails, no trails. Your review is linked to a private hash only you have. Safe from retaliation.

Zero Reviews Deleted by Vendors

Unlike The Knot Worldwide, vendors cannot pay us to suppress negative reviews. Ever. What you see is the whole truth.

  • DJ contract had unenforceable 'no social media' clause
  • Caterer buried automatic 25% gratuity in fine print
Contract Analysis Results
